Yes, if you have four days and want to see gorillas. Bwindi is one of only two places in the world where mountain gorillas live. You trek through dense forest with a ranger, find a family, and watch them for one hour. The tour starts and ends in Entebbe. If you prefer to skip the long drive, you have the option to fly in or out of Bwindi.
What does each day look like?
Day 1: Arrive in Entebbe Your guide meets you at the airport and takes you to your accommodation in Entebbe.
Day 2: Drive to Bwindi After an early breakfast, you drive 8 to 9 hours to Bwindi, depending on your sector. You pass rural villages and rolling hills, and stop at the Equator. You reach the forested highlands in the late afternoon. Rest well. Tomorrow starts early.
Day 3: Track the gorillas You leave early for the park headquarters and a short briefing. Experienced rangers lead you through dense jungle to a gorilla family. Once you find them, you spend one hour in their company. Bring a camera. Take your time with each shot.
Day 4: Return to Entebbe You transfer back to Entebbe for your outbound flight.
How hard is the trek?
The tour is rated active. Trek length depends on where the gorillas are that morning, so the rangers set the pace. Wear sturdy boots and pack light.
